    Congratulations to Christal Lambert, as WWU's member of the month for February 2008

   

 Christal was born in the District of Columbia and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland.  At a young age, her natural gifts and talent in the arts, sprang forth in her drawings, lettering, and in her creative writing . Over the years, she has drawn from life experiences and developed a love for writing from the heart. She is a regional manager for several chain stores and enjoys drawing and writing in her spare time.

      Christal's poem, A Tribute - dedicated to her late uncle, James Robert Hackley, Jr., was chosen as the first article to be published via Women Writers United in 2007.

     She aspires to get her first book of poetry published in 2008 and hopes to design a series of greeting cards. Not only is she an aspiring author, but also a founding member [serving as the Graphic Artist representative] of Women Writers United (WWU), a support group comprised of professional and novice writers who unite to share and enhance their writing skills. As she writes, hopes her words will encourage other young women.

     Women Writers United congratulates Christal J. Lambert for taking the first step to getting her writing published and for being an inspiration to WWU.

Member of the Month for January 2008

      Emerging Author and Shining Star

 LaTonya Garrett

 

     Congratulations to WWU's member of the month, LaTonya Garrett!

    LaTonya is a Native Washingtonian whose formative years were spent in Southeast, District of Columbia. At age 12, she and her family transitioned to the Maryland suburbs of Prince Georges County, where she gained many valuable lessons as well as developed her passion for the English language. She attended Norfolk State University where she first honed her writing skills. She is a graduate of Bowie State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Administration.

      LaTonya’s aspiration of becoming a published successful author is nine (9) years in the making. Not only is she an aspiring author, but also a founding member [serving in the role of executive secretary] of Women Writers United (WWU), a support group comprised of professional and novice writers who unite to share and enhance their writing skills. As she writes, LaTonya has a desire is to inspire as well as enlighten others.

     Her first published book, “So, You’re Engaged, Now What? is scheduled for publication in the month of December 2007.

     Her second book, a work-in- progress is about a young woman who finds herself and love, which she hopes to get published through HLE Publishing, a sponsor company for Women Writers United.
