What is the WWU?
We are, Women Writers United, an independent support group and
training center for women who want to write or improve their writing
skills, complete a manuscript, or get their work published. Here
women from various professional backgrounds and writing levels unite
and share. Each is instructed, encouraged, and empowered with tools
and one-on-one support that will enable them to realize their
writing dreams.
As such, we are a combined group of published, non-published, and
novice writers. Our goal is simply to help each other and other
aspiring female writers to publish and promote their work. Women
writers of all genre learn from each other as well as from seminars,
writing workshops, speakers, and trainers.
Moreover, we will give back to our community, through sponsored
events and community involvement.
Why was the group started?
As founder and first-time published author, I become aware of the
lack of resources and lack of local support for women who write.
Immediately, I had a passion to launch a writing group to support
women. Soon after publishing my book, F.H.M. MURRAY: First Biography
of a Forgotten Pioneer, I set out to accomplish this goal. It is my
way of giving back to the community, while providing a much needed
service to women like myself.
The group, began as the Maryland Chapter of the National Association
of Women Writers. However, as we grew so did our dreams and ideas.
Because of our plans to surge forward more freely, the group voted
to branch out on its own.
Please browse our site and comb back to visit this often, so that
you can keep up with our growth. Or, if you are a female writer,
consider joining our group, or you can support us thru a donation.
